Bude Light Replica
A scale replica brings the Gurney lamp into the Bude heritage story. Made for The Castle in Bude, the model includes the lower police-box section and a working lamp at the top.
The brief called for a replica of the lamp as it stands in London, recreated at scale for the heritage setting. The model’s base, column and lantern provide a physical focal point alongside the exhibition’s interpretation.
Our photographs follow the build from shaped components and lantern assembly to the completed installation. The project demonstrates bespoke museum model making, combining a recognisable historic form with a working illuminated feature.

The replica gives the Bude Light story a physical centrepiece within the interpretation. Its form and illuminated presentation help visitors connect the written history with an object they can examine. The photographs show how model making and display fabrication can support a heritage subject, providing a focal point around which the surrounding museum content can be arranged.
